VISTA selected as health insurance carrier for the City of Hallandale Beach

900 employees and dependents will have access to three health benefit plans

Sunrise, FL (November 21, 2008) – VISTA, a Coventry Health Care Plan, announced today that it was awarded a one-year contract to be the sole health insurance carrier for the City of Hallandale Beach, including 400 eligible employees and 500 dependents. Effective October 1, 2008, the City of Hallandale Beach employees had a choice of three health benefit plans – an HMO (health maintenance organization), POS (point of service) and PPO (preferred provider organization).

With access to a network of over 8,000 providers, the HMO is an open access plan that allows self-referral to any participating specialist. Similarly, the Open Access POS plan does not require referrals and has copays when using a participating provider. If a member chooses to see an out-of-network provider there is an annual deductible and coinsurance, rather than a fixed copay. Both the HMO and POS (when in-network) plans feature no copay for preventive services such as physical exams, immunizations, eye examinations, well-child exams for children up to the age of 16 and annual well-woman exams.

The PPO plan is offered through Coventry Health Care, giving members access to a statewide PPO network. In-network benefits include PCP and specialist visits with a copay, as well as emergency and urgent care. Preventive services such as physical exams, immunizations, well-child exams for children up to the age of 16 and annual well-woman exams also have a copay. Routine mammographys are covered at 100% with no deductible or copay.

With all three health benefit plans, members are eligible for a free fitness club membership at over 300 participating gyms, including 24-Hour Fitness, Club Fit, Curves and Gold’s Gym. Members also receive significant discounts on Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers and have access to online health and wellness tools.
